What is a Wash-Primer?

These primers based on phosphoric acid and passivating pigments were applied with a sponge or rubber wiper on metal. This application technique gave them the name of Wash Primers. Nowadays they are applied by spray gun in a dry film thickness of 8-15 µm.

Main purposes are the adhesion promotion of the following coating to the substrate and anti-corrosive protection of the surface.
